"Europe in music"

Friday, May 29th 2020 at 6.00 p.m. "Europe in music" was held, a musical moment during which the students od the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Venice played the european anthems.

The event was broadcasted on the Facebook platform of:

The initiative is the result of the collaboration between the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Venice, the Council of Europe Office of Venice, and Europe Direct of the City of Venice.

«From your starry throne», taken from the Moses in Egypt by Gioachino Rossini (Naples 1819 version), is the piece that the students of the conservatory will offer to the citizens. Reduction for organ, choir and solos.

The performance, conducted in synchronized streaming, was accompanied by a video that tells the emotional impact of the pandemic and lockdown on the Venetian conservatory. The baroque walls of the monumental Palazzo Pisani became the sounding board of a musical prayer that wants to be both comfort for the suffering and challenge for the future of the artistic community of «Benedetto Marcello».

The video was made by Lorenzo De Mari (editing) and Nicolò Santomaso (shooting) from an idea of Francesco Bellotto.

In the closing credits the Conservatory Director Marco Nicolè greeted the institution.
