Exceptional measures for visitor flow management in Venice - Summer 2018
We would like to inform visitors that the period from June 1 to September 2, 2018 is peak tourist season, as already outlined in the Tourist Bulletin, in which dense crowding is very likely. To this end, the City of Venice may take exceptional measures for the management of visitor flows with the application of pedestrian and/or road diversions as agreed by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, to be decided in a timely manner by the Local Police according to the actual pressure level exerted on the City so as to ensure safe management of visitor flows compatibly with the needs of residents and also in terms of order and safety.
However, residents of the municipality of Venice and, in general, all holders of the Venezia Unica card are excluded from these measures.
The measures applied are as follows:
- Yellow alert: presence of stewards and directional totems, as well as the use of barriers for temporary flow management, subject to evaluation by the local police.
- Red alert: presence of stewards and directional totems, with the installation of flow management gates at Ponte della Costituzione and Lista di Spagna, subject to evaluation by the local police.
- Black alert: presence of stewards and directional totems, with installation of flow management gates at Ponte della Costituzione and Lista di Spagna, subject to evaluation by the local police, and compulsory landing of "GT speedboats" from the municipalities of Cavallino-Treporti, Jesolo, Musile di Piave and Quarto d'Altino at Fondamenta Nuove .
Special public notices may be issued on July 14 for the Festival of the Redeemer and on September 2 for the Historical Regatta and in the event of any unpredictable emergency situation.

To avoid any possible inconvenience, it is advisable to visit Venice on days and at times when the city is less crowded and not affected by these exceptional measures.
