Exhibition "The Founding Mothers and Fathers of the European Union" 2025

The Europe Direct Venezia Veneto service, an information point for the European Union active in the Veneto region, proposed the didactic exhibition "The Founding Mothers and Fathers of the European Union", based on official documentation from the European Commission.

The guiding thread of the exhibition is to emphasise that these women and men were convinced that the peoples of Europe, while remaining proud of their national identity and history, were determined to overcome ancient divisions and build their common destiny together.
These are the visionary leaders who inspired the creation of the European Union we live in today: without their commitment and motivation, we could not live in the context of peace and stability that we take for granted today. 
Resistance fighters or lawyers and parliamentarians, the pioneers of the EU were a diverse group of people moved by the same ideals: peace, unity and prosperity in Europe.
In addition to the pioneers presented below, many others inspired the European project and worked tirelessly to realise it.

The exhibition consisted of 21 panels and combined drawings and photographs with a series of bilingual texts, written in Italian and English, in order to reach a national and international audience.
The exhibition was produced and opened on the occasion of Europe Day on 9 May 2014 in Venice.

- in 2020 at Veneto high schools and at the institutional venues of the Veneto Europe Direct partners (2020 edition)
- in 2019 at Veneto Region high schools and at the institutional venues of the Veneto Region Europe Direct partners (2019 edition)
- in 2018 at Veneto Region high schools and at the institutional venues of the Veneto Region Europe Direct partners (2018 edition)
- in 2017 at Veneto Region high schools and at the institutional venues of the Veneto Region Europe Direct partners (2017 edition)
- in 2016 at the institutional venues of the Veneto Region Europe Direct partners and of the Province of Verona (2016 edition)
- in 2015 at high schools in the Veneto Region (2015 edition)
