The mission of Europe Direct

The main purposes of the Europe Direct information network, established by the European Commission, are:

• to enable local citizens to obtain information, advice, assistance and answers to issues concerning the European Union Institutions, its legislation, policies, programs funding opportunities;
• promote an active local and regional debate on the European Union and its policies;
• to allow the European institutions to increase the spread of information at local andregional needs;
• give the public the opportunity to get in touch with the European Union by making questions, ask for opinions and suggestions.

The Europe Direct serevice in Venice seeks to achieve these goals with a series of
activities planned for multiple audiences.

Every year the European Commission focuses on a coherent set of political strategy priorities and
consequently the Europe Direct information network directs annual activities.
