The service Europe Direct Venezia Veneto, information point of the European Union active on the territory of Veneto, offers the educational exhibition 'The Mothers and the Founding Fathers of the European Union" on official documentation of the European Commission.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 7 women and 13 men - visionary leaders - who inspired the creation of the European Union in which we live today.
The following visionary leaders have inspired the creation of the European Union in which we live today.
Without their commitment and motivation, we could not live in the context of peace and stability that we take for granted today. Resistance fighters or lawyers and parliamentarians, the pioneers of the EU were a heterogeneous group of people moved by the same ideals: peace, unity and prosperity in Europe.
In addition to the pioneers presented below, many others have inspired the European project and have worked tirelessly to achieve it.

Founding Mothers:

Marga Klompé,
Anna Lindh,
Melina Mercouri,
Nicole Fontaine,
Ursula Hirschmann,
Louise Weiss,
