The Founding Mothers and Fathers of the European Union 2021

The Europe Direct of the City of Venice, information point of the European Union active in the Veneto region, proposes the didactic exhibition "The Founding Mothers and Fathers of the European Union", based on official documentation of the European Commission.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 8 women and 13 men who inspired the creation of the European Union in which we live today.

The main intention of the exhibition is to emphasize how these women and men were convinced that the people of Europe, while remaining proud of their identity and their national history, were determined to overcome the old divisions and build together their common destiny.
The following visionary leaders inspired the creation of the European Union in which we live today.
Without their commitment and motivation we cannot live in the context of peace and stability that we take for granted today. Resistance fighters or lawyers and parliamentarians, the EU pioneers were a heterogeneous group of people with the same ideals: peace, unity and prosperity in Europe.
In addition to the pioneers presented below, many others have inspired the project and worked hard to realize it.
