Ermelinda Damiano, President of the City Council of Venice

Graduated in Law at the University of Padua with a thesis in criminal law. Elected to the centre-right list of Luigi Brugnaro Mayor in 2015 and re-elected in 2020, in both legislatures he held the role of President of the City of Venice City Council.

Vito Borrelli: Deputy Director of the Representation of the European Commission in Italy

Vito Borrelli has many years of experience at the European Commission, where he has been working since 1994. He graduated from Ca' Foscari in 1988, then continued his career in Brussels initially as a translator and teacher and then within the Directorate General for Education and Culture, where he dealt with the Erasmus Mundus program and activities Jean Monnet. Since 2017 he has been Deputy Director of the Representation in Italy of the European Commission, a position that has allowed him to deal with important situations and policies not only of the European Union, but also of Italy.

Alberto Toso Fei: Writer and journalist

Alberto Toso Fei, descended from an ancient family of glassmakers in Murano. An expert in secret history and mystery, he recovers in his books the heritage of oral tradition to bring back the charm of lost stories in their places, experimenting the encounter between ancient legends and new technologies. It is translated into several languages. His graphic novel «Orientalia, mille e una notte a Venezia», illustrated by Marco Tagliapietra - was nominated for the Premio Strega. Performer whose creativity has given rise to several initiatives, such as "revealed Venice", a series of public meetings in significant places of the city, including the "Bocolo" that saw St Mark’s Square invaded by thousands of people who gave body to a giant rosebud for the Feast of St Mark’s on April 25. In 2015 he created the Youtube Channel "Venice in a minute". He is also a consultant for various film and television productions.

Fabrizio Marrella: Prorector for International Relations Ca' Foscari University of Venice

Fabrizio Marrella has been working at the Ca' Foscari University since 2009 and is Prorector for International Relations and International Cooperation and Full Professor of International Law. He was a member of the National Scientific Qualification Commission (ASN) 2018/2020, established by the Ministry of University and Scientific Research for the qualification as Associate Professor and Ordinary Professor for S.S.D. IUS 13 (International Law). From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of the Master Executive in Commerce, Taxation and International Arbitration/IBATAX Law. Sincea.a. 2018/2019, he has been Director of the 2nd level Master in Strategic Studies and International Security. He is a Cassationist lawyer and has gained important academic and professional experience at national, European and international level. He obtained, with honors, the Phd in International Law at the Université Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne and the Phd in Civil Law at the University of Bologna. He also holds the Diploma of the Hague Academy of International Law and the Certificate of the Centre for Study and Research in International Law and International Relations of the Hague Academy of International Law (1997).

Maria Ida Biggi: Director CESTUDIR, Ca' Foscari University of Venice

Maria Ida Biggi is an associate professor in Performing Arts at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice and since 2007 she has directed the Institute for Theatre and Melodrama of the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice. She is also Director of the Human Rights Studies Centre (CESTUDIR) at Ca' Foscari. During her formative years she worked closely with Elena Povoledo (1920-2013), a distinguished essayist and collaborator of the Encyclopedia of the Spectacle since its foundation. He is part of the Scientific Committee for the publication of the National Edition of the Scenic Provisions for the works of Giacomo Puccini, an initiative of the Centro Studi Giacomo Puccini in Lucca. She was a consultant and collaborator of the Gaetano Donizetti Foundation in Bergamo and the Institute of Verdiani Studies in Parma for the research of iconographic and scenographic materials and for the subjection in the scheduling of scenography. From 2015 to 2020 she was delegated by the Rector of the Ca' Foscari University for the theatrical activities of the University and the Ca' Foscari University Theatre of Santa Marta. He has curated many scientific and informative exhibitions on the theme of scenography and theatrical direction.

Luisella Pavan-Woolfe: Director of the Venice Office of the Council of Europe

Born in Trieste, she graduated in Political Science from the University of Padua. As an official of the European Commission, she has developed new policies and legislation on environmental protection, equal rights for women and men and persons with disabilities. He also managed funds to support vocational training, employment and education in the European Union as a director for the European Social Fund. As the first Equal Opportunities Director to be appointed by the European Commission, she was responsible for the Union’s policy developments in the area of gender equality and the fight against all forms of discrimination. Subsequently, she joined the EU diplomatic service and was the Union’s ambassador to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Since 2015 he has been at the head office of the Italian Council of Europe in Venice.
