On Sunday, September 26, 2021 The European Day of Languages will be celebrated throughout Europe. Also, Venice participates in the official celebrations.

Strongly supported by the Ca' Foscari University of Venice with the Department of Comparative Linguistic and Cultural Studies, the USR Ufficio Scolastico Regionale Veneto, the Council of Europe and Europe Direct of the Municipality of Venice, the initiative aims to encourage young people and adults to learn languages, in the certainty that multilingualism is also a vaccine against intolerance.

News:

As in previous school years, we want to offer schools in the Veneto region the opportunity to present significant experiences in the enhancement of foreign languages during the European Day of Languages.

The theme proposed to schools is "Put your mask on and tell Venice" - Venice told in language by students of the Veneto region.
Schools are invited to participate with a short video in the language (3' maximum) on the proposed topic.
Videos produced by students will be sent via the Wetransfer platform (or other file transfer system) to drve.progettieu@istruzione.it by the 15th of July 2021.

The European Day of Languages is an event held throughout Europe every year on the 26th of September with the aim of raising awareness on the wide variety of languages present in Europe promoting cultural and linguistic diversity and encouraging people of all ages to learn languages, because talking about it more than ones makes it easier to get in touch with people and helps to find work and grow businesses.

European Language Day was established by the European Commission and the Council of Europe, representing 800 million Europeans from 47 different countries. Many cultural and linguistic institutions, associations, universities and, in particular, schools participate. Established in 2001, on the occasion of the European Year of Languages, this day has since been celebrated every year.

On  the 26th of September and in the days before and after, language courses, games, conversations, conferences, radio programmes and many other initiatives are organised throughout Europe.
