EVENT FOR REGISTERED STUDENTS ONLY

Venice will again host a Regional Session of the European Youth Parliament on March 6-9, 2025, following up on the positive experiences of the numerous national events and the previous Regional Session in 2023 organized there.
The event features about 110 high school students from the province of Venice and an international staff of young people from 13 countries, including Armenia, France, Romania and Serbia. The event was organized by the European Youth Parliament Association in collaboration with Europe Direct Venezia Veneto of the Municipality of Venice, the Chamber of Commerce of Venice Rovigo, the Veneto Region, and with the Municipality of Venice and with the support of Banca Ifis, the Institute of Marine Sciences, the Biodiversity Gateway, Coop Alleanza 3.0, Consular Corps of Venice and Veneto, and H-Farm College.

The Venice 2025 Regional Session will focus on the city of “La Serenissima,” one of the most beautiful cities in the World. Always the embodiment of power and freedom, we believe that Venice should be preserved and presented to all participants as a city ready to welcome them also for an eventual university choice. In this regard, we will aim to enhance its ecosystem and territory, given the unique beauty it possesses.

Fragility and balance: how weaknesses turn into strengths is the central theme of the four-day event:
March 06 - OFFICIALS' TRAINING
March 07 - TEAMBUILDING
March 08 - COMMITEE WORK
March 09 - GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The European Youth Parliament (EYP), founded in Fontainebleau in 1987, is a European network dedicated to involving young Europeans in the institutional life of today's society through the promotion of debate, constructive international dialogue and intercultural communication. EYP events and activities involve 30,000 young citizens between the ages of 16 and 25 from more than 40 states each year. EYP has been recognized by the European Parliament as a prime example of an educational program for involving young people in democratic dialogue and is one of the leading youth organizations at the Future of Europe Conference. It has been a program of the Schwarzkopf Foundation "Junges Europa" since 2004 and is located in Berlin.

The European Youth Parliament Association (EYP), established on March 28, 1994 in Milan, promotes the European dimension and identity in Italian universities and upper secondary schools as the Italian National Committee of the European Youth Parliament. EYP involves more than 1,000 young participants including Italian high school and university students and international students in its events annually. The events were English-language simulations of the European Parliament's decision-making process. Participants were divided into its Committees, each of which was assigned a certain topical issue for which participants must collectively develop solutions to be included in a parliamentary resolution. In this process, participants were guided by the Chairperson, a specially trained facilitator.
The division into committees caused participants to work with different students from their home institution, encouraging the exchange of views and working methods among participants.

The central theme of the event will be Fragility and balance: how weaknesses turn into strengths. It will focus primarily on the enhancement and respect of Venice and its delicate ecosystem, with particular attention to issues concerning climate change and mass tourism that the lagoon city is facing today more than ever. For centuries, Venice has been at the center of international trade and still represents a meeting point for different ethnicities and cultures. It is precisely the city's cosmopolitan soul that has allowed it to welcome prominent figures throughout its history, but also to be home to as many notable figures, such as, among the most famous, Marco Polo, Carlo Goldoni and Antonio Vivaldi.
Therefore, as Head Organisers of the event, we would like to bring the participants' attention back to the history and beauty of a multifaceted city, highlighting the need for a return to a long-lost balance with the environment, all with the utmost respect for the city of the “Serenissima.”
