25-27.05.2023 Meet up - Discover EU
From Thursday, May 25 to Saturday, May 27, 2023, the DiscoverEu MeetUp was held in Venice on the occasion of Europe Day in Venice 2023 organized by Eurodesk Italy and ANG Agenzia Nazionale Giovani in collaboration with Eurodesk-Europe Direct of the Municipality of Venice.
The three-day MeetUp held in Venice took place on Europe Day on May 9, which celebrates peace and unity in Europe.
Venice celebrates Europe Day every year throughout the month of May, organizing numerous activities and events combined into one big event called Europe Day in Venice 2023.
The DiscoverEu delegation to Venice consisted of 30 of young Europeans from 15 European countries. During the three-day event, the participants had the opportunity to explore the historic center, the small islands of Murano-Burano, experience the globally known glassmaking techniques, navigate the most famous canals that characterize Venice worldwide, and more.
The City of Venice with its Eurodesk-Europe Direct service welcomed the delegation with various initiatives:
Delivery of a welcome kit with European Union information materials in English
May 25, 5 p.m. - Welcome by Vice Mayor Andrea Tomaello at Venice City Hall with a guided tour of the Ca' Farsetti Palace
May 25 at 6 p.m. - Concert for Europe at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory
May 27, 10 a.m. - Guided tour of European thematic path at M9-Museo del 900

DiscoverEU is an action of the Erasmus+ program that gives you the opportunity to discover Europe through learning experiences. Young people who are 18 years of age or older and reside in the European Union or in one of the non-EU countries associated with the Erasmus+ program have the opportunity to travel primarily by train (exceptions are made to allow those living on islands or in remote areas to participate), discovering Europe's breathtaking landscapes and its variety of small and large cities. You can participate in the two application rounds that take place each year.
