2022 is the European year of the Youth! The European Commission designated 2022 as the European Year of Youth to give increasing importance and space to the priorities of young people in policy areas relevant to the European Union, and the European Day of Languages 2022 fits into the context of activities dedicated to young Europeans.
The 22nd edition of the European Day of Languages takes place on September 26, 2022 at the Santa Margherita Auditorium in Venice.
The new event "Languages for a Democratic Culture," celebrates linguistic and cultural plurality in Europe. Therefore, European Day of Languages 2022 is dressed in yellow and blue, in European support for the people of Ukraine to condemn war and the violation of rights in all their forms.
In 2021 it was 20 years of the European Day of Languages

The European Day of the Languages is an event held throughout Europe every year on September 26th with the purpose of raising awareness on the wide variety of languages in Europe, promote cultural and linguistic diversity, and encourage people of all ages to learn languages, because speaking more than one language makes it easier to connect with people and helps people find jobs and grow businesses.
The European Day of Languages was established by the European Commission and by the Council of Europe, which represents 800 million Europeans from 47 different countries. Many cultural and language institutes, associations, universities and, in particular, schools participate. Established in 2001, on the occasion of the European Year of Languages, this day has been celebrated every year since then.
On September 26th and on the days before and after, language courses, games, conversations, lectures, radio programs and many other initiatives are organized throughout Europe.
