EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES - LANGUAGES FOR A DEMOCRATIC CULTURE 

As part of the celebration of the European Day of Languages in Venice on 26 September, the Award Ceremony of the GEL 2022 Schools Competition organised by the Regional School Office for Veneto and the Europe Direct-Eurodesk del Comune di Venezia was held at the Santa Margherita Auditorium in Venice.

The prizes, consisting of book vouchers, were made available by the European Union through the Europe Direct - Eurodesk service of the Venice City Council and were awarded to 12 schools in the Veneto region, from primary to high school, which had been asked to present their school using the languages studied or spoken by the students of foreign origin themselves. 

Presenting the prizes to the students of the winning schools was Caterina Carpinato, Vice-Chancellor for Third Mission, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, together with Laura Besio, Municipal Councillor for Educational Policies, Laura Donà, Technical Director of the Ministry of Education and Francesca Vianello, Europe Direct - Eurodesk del comune di Venezia.

Secondary schools
- IC Grava di Conegliano (TV) - 1st Prize
- IC F. Malfer - Secondary School "Pisanello" of Garda (VR) - Class 2 A - 2nd Prize
- IC Fracastoro di Cavaion (VR) - Classes 1 B and 1E IC - 3rd Prize
- IC Matteotti di Maerne (VE) - Classes 2^B and 2^C - Special Mention
- IC Adria 2 RO - Class 3^B "A. Buzzolla" 1st grade school
