Collaboration Agreement between the cities of Venice and Thessaloniki
On July 17 2003, the President of the City Council of Venice - Ms. Mara Rumiz and The Mayor of Thessaloniki - Mr. Vassilios Papageorgopoulos signed the Collaboration Agreement between the two cities.
The city of Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece in terms of population and importance, located in the Macedonia region and overlooking the Aegean Sea. Founded in 315 BC, it is a city rich in history and culture, with Byzantine, Roman and Ottoman monuments. Landmarks include the White Tower, the Arch of Galerius and the Rotunda. Thessaloniki is also an important university and cultural center.
